Henredon/ Maitland-Smith Mahogany Dining Table, 2 Leaves & 6 Chippendale Chairs
Henredon/ Maitland-Smith Mahogany Dining Table, 2 Leaves & 6 Chippendale Chairs. Elegant, high-end dining set by Henredon/Maitland-Smith. The table has a beautifully veneered top in mahogany with a banded edge, and an oval inset of burlwood.
The legs are hand-carved mahogany with elaborate work on the "knees", and the feet are dramatic ball-and-claw. Beautifully detailed work, and slightly oversized for a comfortable sit. Two skirted leaves go with the table, in individual lined sleeves. The table runners are heavy metal, to prevent sag when the table is extended.
Very high quality set made of mahogany. The set is in exceptional condition - the chairs are completely solid and all the joints are tight, just like the day they were made. There are a few very minor marks on the side/front when they meet the dining table. The fabric is extremely clean with the slightest bit of wear. The fabric is heavy cotton and should clean nicely, if desired but not needed.The seats unscrew from the underside, so recovering would be simple and inexpensive if you desire another type of fabric. The table legs and skirt are near mint to mint and the top has been professionally refinished and is exceptional.
Measurements: The table is 72" long, and 45" wide. The two leaves are 22 wide. The side chairs are 40" tall and 23" wide at the crest. The seats are 19" wide, 16" deep and 19.5 high. The armchairs are 40" tall and 24" wide at the crest. They are 26 wide at the outside curve of the arms. The seats are 20" wide, 16" deep and 19.5 high.
