20TH CENTURY ANTIQUE CHIPPENDALE STYLE MAHOGANY DROP LEAF PEMBROKE TABLE W/ MARLBORO LEGS & SERPENTINE TOP. Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We're a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients.

Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this exceptional early 20th century custom Chippendale Mahogany Pembroke table. This is one of the most desirable forms of Pembroke tables as illustrated in Sack's "Fine points of furniture". We whole heartedly believed this was a period table and refused to believe otherwise until we got our hands on it and checked out the construction. This table was made in the early 20th century to the exact proportions and standards of the finest 18th century cabinet shops and was probably made around Boston based on how good the table is and how early in the 20th century it was made. The Sack family was instrumental to building the antique industry into what it is today, and their publications are still the gold standard. We have multiple copies of their literature, and our father knew the Sacks.

We will attach a photo from Albert Sack's "Fine Points of Furniture" showing a near identical Pembroke table as a best example. Before the Victorian period cabinet making was still quite difficult & labor intensive.

With the new technology & production methods that were constantly evolving furniture became quite easy to mass produce by the turn of the 20th century. Most custom cabinet shops were struggling to stay afloat but many Boston cabinet makers were still working in the traditional style furnishing the homes of the Boston elite.

The serpentine top is well formed with fine proportions and the table has a wonderfully executed pierced stretcher. The table has one drawer with a cock bead molded face, original lock, & etched brass bull. The table has molded Marlboro legs and was probably made CA 1910/1920 but it wouldn't surprise us if this was made at the end of the 19th century.

The table is in great condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & a few dry spots in the finish on the back. The table measures 19 1/2" wide x 28 1/2" deep x 28 tall.

When the leaves are locked up the table measures 38 1/2 wide. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation. We have a large inventory of fine antiques ranging from Early American, Federal, Chippendale, Empire, Centennial, Victorian, 20th Century custom mahogany, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern antique furniture along with decorative arts from across the globe. All the items we offer to the general public are high quality estate pieces. We do not offer goods with significant flaws or defects.

We completely avoid items with issues. You can expect the items we sell to have reasonable wear and tear.

Due to the large volume of goods we deal in we cannot describe items in minutia. We do our best to give you an accurate condition report in our description of the items. They are not furniture movers who bring the items into your home. We can get you special services in certain cases, but you are responsible for telling us you require them and for the extra cost of these services, if you instruct our shippers to provide services beyond curbside deliveries. We are responsible for any additional services and charged for these services.

Again the process is all designed to protect your investment and is an option offered for your protection. We don't like to send nice people off with things tied to roof racks. We are not a storage facility.

We are happy to hold your items for a reasonable pre-agreed upon period. We have a zero tolerance policy for non-paying buyers.
