We are offering this fine pale mahogany 18th c. American tilt top tripod table with a a birdcage movement that dates to c.
It has an elegant baluster shaped pedestal and three cabriole legs that terminate in pad feet. The top is octagonal (or square with clipped corners) Because of the ingenious birdcage movement, the top rotates and tilts up when it is out of use. With the exception of the old replaced brass top catch and an early 20th c.
Refinish, the piece is in original condition. Two of the cabriole legs have been skillfully repair at some point. The table sits squarely and the top tilts from clipped corner to clipped corner giving it a graceful silhouette when not in use. I think the table is from Massachusetts.
