A wonderful late 18th Century Chippendale survivor, this piece showcases well the standard of the period for game tables. It has a single draw with what seem to be the original bail pull handles, or at least very old replacements as they have created an obvious dimple in the draw front, which can only happen over a long period of time.
It has a flip-top table with gate leg support. It has outstanding construction with two solid (and heavy) pieces of mahogany creating the table surface and the flip-top. The graining, color, and patination on these piece are absolutely lovely. The table is supported by four molded, tapering legs.
Just an excellent example of the iconic Philadelphia game or card table. Overall the table is in very good condition.
There are some minor blemishes to the finish. The brass hinges are likely later replacements.
Shrinkage of the drawer bottom has created a small gap in the drawer. There is old shrinkage damage created on the table top and flip-top due to knots in the wood. It is quite minor and adds age character to the piece, but I didn't want to exclude it.
The table is very sturdy. There are various other minor dings, dents, scratches, and scrapes as one would expect with authentic antique pieces of this age. While it isn't the fastest, it is usually the most economical option and can be surprisingly cheap.
