Antique Federal Period American Cherry Drop Leaf Pembroke Table Chippendale Legs. 100% authentic, all original, handmade American table made of 0.75 solid cherry boards, single board construction in both the top and drop leaves. So, you be the judge based on the attached photos and your own expertise in judging the style and origin of antique furniture.

Construction: The top and drop leaves are each single boards, hand planed on the underside. The base/skirt are built using pegged, mortise and tenon construction.

The bottoms of the short ends of the skirt are planed in a decorative edge, not exactly cockbeading but similar. In addition, the legs are 1.50 square and are hand-planed in a fluted, decorative design on their outward faces and chamfered on their inside corners to accommodate the lower cross-bracing. The cross-bracing may have been replaced at some point. The retractable braces under the top that pierce the skirt and that support the table's leaves in their open position are hand carved with a stylized knob on the ends that make them easier to grab and operate.

They are snug, not loose. Top and drop leaf board thickness: 0.75. Legs: 1.50" x 1.50" square. Top: 35.75" L x 17.50" W.

Leaves: 35.75" L x 9.125" W. Top when fully open: 35.75" L x 35.75" W. Long side of base skirt: 20.75" L x 6.00" H. Short side of base skirt: 13.75" L x 6.00" H. Condition: Written condition is our opinion only, but you are the final arbiter.

Please feel free to request more photos. This piece is 200+ years old and has moderate signs of wear and usage commensurate with its age. The top has some minor discoloration to the surface and one long, old scratch (see photos). At some point decades ago the table was likely refinished, as the surface appears old but not original. The table is sturdy and the joints are solid, not wobbly. Originally, the table top and leaves were connected by six original, hand wrought iron hinges and brass screws.
