Antique Georgian Chippendale Style Carved Mahogany Piecrust Tilt-top Tea Table

  
We are pleased to offer for sale an exceptional mahogany piecrust tilt-top tea table. The table's design and full range of elements lends it to probably being a commissioned example, or at the very least from a well-respected workshop. The table has a beautiful deeply scalloped square top set above a heavily fluted classical center column. That connects to four acanthus-adorned spider-form legs. It is rare to find such a table with a square-form top and rarer still to find an example with such a heavily fluted center column. The table is in good, sturdy and usable condition. The top appears original to the table. The table has a deep, well-developed darkened patina to the mahogany, consistent with oxidation and regular use of an example from the period. The warm honey tone of the mahogany can be seen on the worn edges, this color could be brought back or the original patina can be left. The table is an antique, and as such has the expected nicks and scratches. The top may have been reset to the wood supports on the underside.
