Antique Johnson Handley Johnson Walnut Tilt Top Acanthus Carved Claw Foot Table

  
Johnson Handley Johnson Company, Grand Rapids, MI, heavily carved pedestal tilt top occasional tea table in beautiful condition for age. I believe this is made of Walnut wood with a carved ball pedestal and Acanthus Leaves carved knees on three ornate legs.

Each leg ends in a deeply carved 4 toe Lions foot. The 28 diameter table top has a simple stepped carved edge. With the top tilted up it measures 42" in height and when flat it is 27.25" tall. The legs measure 19.5 across from foot to foot. Overall in excellent condition with the top showing normal use scratches and one area of of damage to finish possibly from water.

It does not go into the veneer, it is not warped and could easily be refinished if desired. There is some old finish drips on the legs as noted. This has never been refinished and is all original. The table has the Johnson Handley Johnson metal tag from 1927 and is impressed with the numbers 2655-1/2.
