Antique Mahogany Slant-Front Secretary Desk w/Key! Gorgeous, antique, secretary desk salvaged from Central Connecticut. The desk is made of a solid, hardwood (possibly mahogany or oak), veneered with mahogany.

The 3 inner sides of the drawers are made of oak. It has a slant-front, drop-down writing surface, with 4 small drawers, 4 compartments for envelopes and papers, 2 hidden pull-out storage sleeves, and 1 compartment with a swinging door. We found a working key to lock/unlock the writing table and also serve as a pull/handle. As the writing table drops down, 2 support bars/boards extend from the inside of the cabinet to hold up the writing surface when its fully extended.

There are 4 drawers under the desk area. Each drawer was constructed using dovetails, and has 2 brass pulls. The desk sits on 4, elegant, carved, ball and claw feet.

We salvaged the piece from an old home in Central Connecticut. It was well-cared for and we don't have any damage to report. It has the typical wear: nicks, light scratches, and spots of worn finish that you would expect to find from an old, used desk.

However, there are no breaks, cracks, gouges, scrapes, chips, or any other obvious flaws. Our carpenter thoroughly inspected the piece and didn't need to make any repairs or reinforce anything. All of the drawer's joints are tight, and the desk overall is strong, sturdy, and ready for a lifetime of service! Overall : 32" W x 9 3/4 " D (top) & 16" D (middle) x 41 1/2 " H. Writing surface : 32" W x 12 1/4 " D.
