Inspection photo shows June of 1996. The Claridge Collection, an assemblage of eighteenth-century Georgian inspired furniture, has been interpreted by Raymond K. Sobota for Century Furniture Industries. The Georgian period refers to the latter part of the eighteenth century and is highly influenced by the works of Thomas Chippendale. Chinese motifs, as interpreted by Chippendale, were a vital theme in Georgian architecture and home furnishings and are an integral part of the Claridge designs.
The collection is created from six woods which combine to offer the detail and elegance expected from furniture of this formal period. The solids are maple and mahogany, and the highly decorative veneers are prima vera, white ash burl, anegre and satinwood. One wood finish is available on all pieces in the collection.
Claridge is a perceived finish approximating the patina found on antique Georgian furniture. A second finish, stippled red, may be applied to a selected number of pieces.
The attention to details of design, cabinetry and fine finish is apparent in the Claridge Collection, combining to create this outstanding collection of Bedroom, Dining Room, and Living Room.
