Henry Clay developed a new method to produce an improved paper mache which was based upon a patent he took out in 1772. His patent was responsible for the production of a more durable paper mache items. He produced items for the Royal Family and other nobility. Some of his trays are displayed in the Victoria & Albert Museum and in the Queen's Collection at Frogmore. Measures 24" high, 29 3/4" wide and 1 1/4 deep tray only.
