Exceptionally Fine Circa 1800 Carved Maidens Bust Side Table Grand Tour Marble

  
This table is an absolute tour de force is style design and craftsmanship. The base is hand carved from solid English oak, it has so much going on, starting from the base you have three Lion hairy paw feet, moving up you have various swirls and ornate laurel type leaf bases to what form three nude maidens, these are carved as the type of busts you would have seen adorning the front of naval ships from the period. The table top is hand carved Italian Grand Tour marble, very rare and highly collectable on its own. It has been seated on a secondary piece of period marble for stability. The timber has been cleaned waxed and polished, the same with the marble, the base is 220+ plus years old and the top 180+ years old, they make a sublime pairing that will never be found again.
