PAIR-CHIPPENDALE TOWNESHEND GODDARD ANTIQUE STYLED MAHOGANY DROP LEAF PEMBROKE TABLES ATTRIBUTED TO THE WORK SHOP OF ISRAEL SACKS. Bay Colony Antiques takes the most exceptional honor in offering this pair of remarkable early 20th century Chippendale styled lattice carved X stretcher based Townshend Goodard fashioned Pembroke tables attributed to the work shops of Israel Sacks New York. These Pembrokes were made for the family to sit on both ends of a remarkable 19th century Chippendale sofa that is a second copy of also a Townshend Goddard American masterpiece.
That will be offered as soon as the photographs have been processed. The original Townshend Goddard pieces these were copied from are multi million dollar pieces owned within the very best museum collections in America. This is as close as you can get to them without writing a healthy 7 figure check. These Pembroke tables are simply some of the best we have ever seen from a very important collection. We are a high volume operation servicing the needs of collectors around America while staying a small elite family practice. These tables posses very rare double sided drawer configuration that come without brasses that would offend the presence of the maker's works. You simply reach under the table to actuate the drawers. Hardware on Townshend Goddard pieces are normally sterling silver and Mr Goddard's passions for silver engraving lead him into quite a difficulty with Colonial British authorities for counterfeiting their coinage...
Each table has knurled diamond carved friezes on both side facings with nicely molded drawer facings, well defined carved Marlborough legs & the most amazing lattice carved X cross base stretchers we have ever seen. These are amazing and nothing short of it! We received these with a slight color variation from where one had to sun exposure in a room and the other not. We also note some small loss on the lattice carving which will be expertly addressed by our woodworker asap and most assuredly before they leave our facility for their next home. We offer these with the built in option of having our woodworker even out their colors or leaving them alone. We often encounter the purist or the design orientated so we embrace both here. We are a wholly owned family business in our third decade of continuous operation.
